RESOLUTION NO. 404
DECLARING UNOPPOSED CANDIDATES FOR THE MAY 4, 2019 GENERAL ELECTION AND CANCELLING THE ELECTION
WHEREAS, an election was called for May 4, 2019, to elect three Aldermen for two year terms; and
WHEREAS, no proposition or measure was ordered to be placed on the ballot other than the election of three Aldermen; no opposed race appeared on the ballot; and no candidate’s name was placed on a list of write-in candidates for any office under applicable law; and WHEREAS, the City Secretary has certified that there are only three candidates for Aldermen and that, therefore, each candidate is unopposed for office; and WHEREAS, the City Secretary has delivered a certification to the City Council certifying that no proposition will appear on the ballot at the election, no person has made a declaration of write-in candidacy, and all of the candidates identified herein are unopposed. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCHER CITY, TEXAS: SECTION 1.That the City Council finds that the above stated premises are true and correct. SECTION 2.That the unopposed candidates for City Council listed below are hereby declared elected to the office listed, to wit:
Zac Beck, Alderman, for a term of 2 years; and
Leslie Hash, Alderman, for a term of 2 years; and
Debra Haehn, Alderman, for a term of 2 years.
SECTION 3.That the City Secretary is directed to issue a Certificate of Election to each of the above-named members of the City Council. Each person elected must qualify for the office in the manner provided by the Texas Constitution and laws of the State of Texas. SECTION 4.That the City Council of the City of Archer City hereby cancels the election scheduled to be held on May 4, 2019. SECTION 5.That a copy of this order will be posted on Election Day at the polling place that would have been used in the election. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Archer City, Texas, on the 21st day of February, 2019.
